Khewra salt Mines

A trip to the old mines is fascinating. One can experience the old mine working system, a mosque purely made by transparent rock salt bricks of different shades. There is a salt lake and a place to check your fate. There is a Mughal style "Darbar Hall" where you can echo your voice. Also absorbing scenes of Room & Pillars of rock salt of different shades. PMDC local administration can manage " fire work" program in the Darbar Hall on request.

Beside visiting inside mines one can visit " Bungalow Pahari (Hill)" and 'Choona Pahari (Hill)" as old sites of Custom and Khewra


populace respectively. Khewra gorge provides excellent exposures of rocks from Pre-Cambrian to Tertiary rocks rich with all types fossils. The gorge is well known as Open Geological Museum among geologists.

There is a Restaurant and a Souvenir Shop. Handicrafts made from hard rock salt, gypsum and dolomite are available in the local market.
Parking and over-night stay facilities are available.

Kalabagh Salt Mines

Visit to these mines, especially any chamber inside, is an exclusive experience of a ramp structure. The mines have got an ideal Guest House situated at the bank of the Indus River where one can enjoy the smooth flow of the mighty Indus, beside fishing. One can boat up to the proposed Kalabagh dam site and even beyond up to Makhad, a distance of 3 hours. There are historic places 'Pande Monuments" across the river on the Mari Hill top, old Jinnah railway bridge and Jinnah Barrage down stream.


Handicrafts made from hard rock salt are available in the local market.
