GP medical facilities are provided at all the mines beside at HO. These facilities can be extended to any agency on nominal charges.
PMDC has established an Asthma Resort at the Khewra Mines to cure asthma developed by allergy.
EDUCATION Provision of education to the mining community's children in the far off areas is one of the basic facilities generously developed by PMDC. Some of the schools have earned good reputation among the community due to their quality of education in the area. Khewra Mine Survey Institute and Model Higher Secondary School are quite well reputed.
At Khewra School: PMDC Higher Secondary School is run by 29 highly qualified teachers. During the current academic session (2000-2001) total strength of students is 543 including 244 girls. Khewra Mine Survey Institute provides one-year courses in mine surveying after matriculation. The Institute produces 60 to 70 students annually. PMDC Model High School provides teaching facilities to 175 male/female students. At present there are 11 teaching staff members.
There is one training center for short-hand and typing along with basic computer training facilities for the students.
